Daniel Ford was named Assistant Coach of the Princeton University women’s volleyball team in February 2024. Ford joins the Tigers from Lafayette, where he served as Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator since 2023.
The 2024 season, Ford's first at Princeton, saw the Tigers win the Ivy League title and earn the No. 1 seed along with hosting rights in the Ivy Tournament. Kamryn Chaney was named Ivy Player of the Year, All-America Honorable Mention, First Team All-Region and First Team All-Ivy while Lucia Scalamandre and Sydney Draper collected Second Team All-Ivy honors.
At Lafayette, Ford coached Gracie Gibson, who was a Second Team All-Patriot League honoree and a member of the Bryant Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2023. Additionally, Gibson’s’ .381 hitting percentage led the Patriot League. Under Ford’s guidance, Abby Nieporte and Emma Patmon were named to the University of Pennsylvania All-Tournament Team while Patmon was also named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Oct. 17, 2023.
Ford also had a storied playing career that included two seasons as a professional. In 2018 he played for SWD PowerVolleys Duren in the Bundesliga, the top league in Germany, and in 2017 he played for Hurrikaani Loima in the Mestaruusliiga, the top league in Finland.
He was also the starting setter at Saint Francis (Pa.) from 2014 – 2017 and was named to the All-EIVA First Team in 2017 and the All-EIVA Second Team in 2016. He tallied 2,680 career assists along with 400 career digs and helped SFU earn its first wins over Penn State in school history, as well as the program’s highest season-ending American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) of No. 15.
In addition, Ford was a “VolleyballMag” All-American Honorable Mention in 2017, named to the “Off The Block” EIVA All-Decade Team (2010-2020), to the 2017 California Baptist Invitational All-Tournament Team and was the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 30, 2017.
Ford graduated from Saint Francis with a B.S. in Business Administration in 2017.
