Kelly Boudreau joined the Princeton women's soccer program as an assistant coach in February 2015.
Over her first two seasons, Boudreau has mentored two starting keepers, including a rookie in Natalie Grossi in 2016, the first Princeton freshman to start a majority of the team's games since 1995. Grossi backstopped Princeton to four shutouts in her rookie season.
"It is a huge honor to join one of the greatest institutions in the country," Boudreau said upon her hiring. "There is no comparison to the strength of Princeton's academic, athletic and alumni relations. I am beyond excited to start working with an exceptional group of student-athletes. I want to thank Sean Driscoll for bringing me on board and providing me with this amazing opportunity. I couldn't ask for a better person to work with and learn from."
Boudreau came with Driscoll to Princeton from Fairfield, where she was a standout player for the Stags before graduating with a B.S. in finance in 2012. While working on her MBA at Fairfield, Boudreau served for two seasons as a graduate assistant coach for the women's soccer program before becoming an assistant coach in 2014. Boudreau helped the team achieve a record of 37-17-7 during her three years as a coach. Among her duties, she served as the team's goalkeeping coach and oversaw the program's strength and conditioning efforts.
“I am so excited to add Kelly to our women’s soccer staff," Driscoll said upon Boudreau's hiring. "She is an exceptional talent and an even better human being. I simply could not think of a better role model for the incredibly gifted student-athletes on this team. Kelly is indefatigable, passionate about her profession and committed to excellence. It will be a privilege to work along side her as we begin the newest chapter of Princeton soccer. We eagerly look forward to continuing the amazing tradition created by all of those players and coaches before us.”
Like Driscoll, Boudreau is a Connecticut native, from Farmington. She served on the state's Olympic Development Program (ODP) staff for two years as well as a head coach for Connecticut Football Club, where she played club soccer since she was 12. In 2014, Boudreau was head of CFC Arsenal goalkeeping.
As a player at Fairfield, Boudreau was a four-year starting goalkeeper, earning MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2011 and twice earning Academic All-MAAC honors. She ended her career as the program's all-time leader in saves (396), shutouts (36), and goals-against average (0.89) while starting 80 games, the third-most in program history. She also finished her career with top-three single-season totals in shutouts, goals-against average and saves.
