OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Although the aspirations were likely higher, the Princeton University men's cross country team finished with a very respectable 17th place finish at today's 1998 NCAA Championship race at the University of Kansas.
Once again, the top finisher for the Tigers was Paul Morrison (Fr., Ontario, Canada), who placed 41st with a time of 31:26.00 in the 10,000-meter race. Morrison had the best time of any freshman in the field.
Jim Colling (Sr., Henderson, Va.) was the next Tiger to cross the finish line, scoring 71st with a time of 32:02.30. Mike Spence (Jr., E. Stroudsburg, Pa.) finished 76th in the meet with a time of 32:08.00. There was a dropoff from there, as John Carson (Sr., York, Pa.) placed 107th with a time of 32:32.60 while Chris Banks (Jr., Springfield, Va.) placed 132nd with a time of 32:51.60.
