Tigers blanked by Roth's hat trick in Princeton Stadium

PRINCETON, N.J. - Dartmouth scored twice in the first half and added two more in the second to shutout Princeton 4-0 in the first game of a doubleheader in the Princeton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The loss drops Princeton to 3-2, 1-1 in Ivy competition, while Dartmouth improves to 4-1-1, 1-0 in league play.
The Big Green opened the scoring at the 23:34 mark when Melissa Roth connected on her first of three goals from about six yards out on a cross by Jessica Prairie to score past keeper Jordan Rettig (So., W. Hartford, CN) near the left post. Dartmouth took a two-goal lead into the half after Lindsay Bergren controlled a through ball and scored in the 39th minute.
Dartmouth's Melissa Roth added two insurance goals in a span of two minutes and 16 seconds in the second half, including a penalty kick in the 68th minute.
Princeton's best scoring chance in the second half came when Tiger Linley Gober (Fr., Atlanta, GA) had a bullet hit the crossbar at the 25:55 mark.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, as they travel to Bucknell. Game time is slated for 7 pm.
