Reyes Leads Tigers to Fifth Straight Win

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton Tigers extended their win streak to five games in a 3-1 victory over Colgate at Lourie-Love Field this afternoon.
The win improves Princeton to 8-2 overall, 3-1 in Ivy competition, while Colgate drops to 6-6, 1-1 in Patriot league play.
Both teams came out looking a little flat in the opening minutes, but Princeton picked up their game to control possession for the majority of the first half. Going into the intermission, the game remained scoreless.
The Tigers exploded for three second-half goals, and the defense held the Raiders in check to come away with the win
With less than five minutes expired in the second half, Dana DeCore (Jr., Pennington, NJ) connected on a beautiful serve by Lori Volker (So., San Diego, CA) and found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season.
Just over eight minutes later, the Tigers answered again as Amee Reyes (So., Wheeling, WVa.) squeaked a cross by Susan Rea (Jr., Palo Alto, CA) between Red Raider keeper Kelly Tyrrell and the right post. Colgate cut the Tiger lead in half when Andrea Licari scored from just a few yards out past Tiger keeper Jordan Rettig (So., W. Hartford, CT).
Freshman Kelly Sosa (Oneonta, NY) increased Princeton's lead at the 71:20 mark when she one touched a cross from Julie Shaner (So., Gwynedd Valley, PA) past the left post for her second goal of the year.
The Tigers outshot the Red Raiders 14-3, and held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Tigers return to action Wednesday as they host Lehigh in the first game of a doubleheader in Princeton Stadium. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
