Women's Cross Country Preview 1999
September 01, 1999 | Women's Cross Country
Sept. 1, 1999
After losing a strong corps of leadership to graduation in the spring of 1999, the Princeton women's cross country team is looking for its shot at redemption in the fall of 1999. Coach Peter Farrell has the squad pointed in the right direction to make good on that shot. The Tigers lost the likes of Betsy Packard, Heather Onuma and Melissa Wu to graduation, but they also gained an extraordinary amount of experience with their thoughts of the future.
Senior Sarah Hendricks and Junior Jen Cannistra lead this group of talented runners into the fall for their shot at claiming the program's first ever Heptagonal championship. Courtney Ebersole, now a senior, finished strong in several meets last fall and will be looked upon by Farrell to be the leader of the pack for 1999. Kristie Rosso is also a runner that can make some waves in big meets this fall.
The Tigers begin the season with several dual meets. A total team effort will go a long way against Lafayette, LaSalle and Rutgers. The Meet of Champions hosted by Iona is another good meet as well as a final tune up for the Heps at the always exciting and prestigious H-Y-P meet at Yale on Oct. 8. The Tigers finished fourth at last year's championships and a win there would not only mean redemption, but it would also mean history.
