Shaner Leads Princeton In Win Over Delaware

PRINCETON, N.J. - Julie Shaner was busy Tuesday night in Princeton's 3-0 win over Delaware at Lourie-Love Field. She produced early in the game as she picked up her second goal of the season in the first 11 minutes. Shaner then hooked up for the assist on the goal by freshman Theresa Sherry giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead at the half.
Jordan Rettig, who is ranked second in the nation in goals-against average, had to leave the contest after she was kicked in the face four minutes into the game. Junior Catherine Glenn didn't miss a beat in net for the Tigers. Glenn made six saves and Princeton earned its second consecutive shutout victory and seventh shutout in eight games.
"The subs really made the difference for us tonight," said head coach Julie Shackford. "We know that our transition in goal is really smooth and I wasn't worried about it at all."
Sophomore Jenny Skinner scored the final goal of the night in the 53rd minute and picked up her second career goal.
Princeton will play Richmond in the Richmond Spider Classic on Friday, Oct. 6th at 7:00 p.m.
