Field Hockey Caps Off Season With 9-0 Win

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton Field Hockey team capped off their regular season and Ivy League schedule with a 9-0 win over Pennsylvania on Friday night at Class of 1952 Stadium.
Claire Miller (Scarsdale, N.Y.), Hilary Matson (Marathon, N.Y.), Melanie Meerschwam (Amstelveen, Netherlands) and Kellie Maul (Marlton, N.J.) each scored two goals on the night and freshman Cory Picketts (Marmora, N.J.) tallied one.
The Tigers outshot Penn 42-2 enroute to the 9-0 win, as Kelly Baril (Peabody, Mass.) and Zehra Nizami (Hong Kong) shared the duties in goal. Nizami made the only save of the evening, while opposing goalkeeper Katie Davis (Hulmeville, Pa.) made 14 saves.
Following the game, Princeton University was honored for their seventh-consecutive Ivy League Championship during a trophy presentation. The championship earns the Tigers an automatic bid to the 2000 NCAA Championship tournament.
Princeton will await the NCAA Division I Championship selection show on November 7, at 8 p.m. to hear where they will be participating in the first round of the NCAA tournament on November 11.
