PRINCETON, N.J. - Heather Deerin (So., Livingston, N.J.) and Jenny Lankford (Sr., Charlotte, N.C.) were named first-team All-Ivy for the 2000 soccer season. Julie Shaner (Sr., Gwynedd Valley, Pa.), Kelly Sosa (Jr., Oneonta, N.Y.) and Jordan Rettig (Sr., West Hartford, Conn.) were named to the second team.
Theresa Sherry (Fr., Baltomore, Md.) and Liz Bell (Fr., Holland, Pa.) were honorable mentions.
Lankford and Deerin were recognized for anchoring the Tiger defense. The Tigers allowed the fewest goals, two, in the league and shutout all Ivy teams but one. Deerin was also stellar on the offensive end, finishing the season as the team's second leading scorer (three goals, four assists, 10 points). She was one of two unanimous selections to the team, the other being Jessica Post (Dartmouth) who was named Player of the Year. Shaner was recognized for her offense finishing the season with three goals, two assists and eight points. She was the team's third leading scorer. Sosa, a defender, finished the season with one goal. Rettig, the Tiger goalie, finished the season with a 0.48 goals-against average, .869 save percentage, six Ivy shutouts (nine overall) and allowed only two goals in Ivy play.
Sherry was the team's leading scorer with eight goals, one assist for 17 points and Bell started every game for Princeton on defense as a freshman.
The Tigers were the 2000 Ivy League co-champions, the first time since 1982. Princeton lost to Wisconsin 1-0 in double overtime in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Wednesday to close out its season. It was the second consecutive post-season appearance for Princeton.
