Youthful Men's Track Team Tuned up for Heps

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton University track and field teams hosted the Princeton Invitational this afternoon at Jadwin Gymnasium. Both the men's and women's teams had performances that shows the improvement of the Tigers throughout the season.
The Tigers were led by the freshmen. In the 55-meter hurdles Adrian Mullings (Uniondale, N.Y.) and Javius Wynn (Mechanicsville, Va.) finished in second and third places respectively. The two were separated by .03 second. Mullings finished in 7.74 and Wynn crossed at 7.77. Freshamn Bruce Hanckock (Costa Mesa, Calif.) finished a strong third in the mile run with a time of 4:11.81. Another freshman, David Dean (Pegram, Tenn.) was the top finisher in the 800 meters. He had a time of 1:55.63. Junior pole vaulter Jonathan Jessup (Bryan, Texas) was the op performer with a height of 16' 5". Freshman Brandon Braunstein (Newark, Calif.) was third with a mark of 14' 9". Junior co-captain Scott Denbo (Nashville, Tenn.) was the secpnd finisher in the shot put with a distance of 18.24 meters, an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Both the men's and the women's teams return to action next weekend at the Heptagonal championships in Hanover, N.H. The men are looking for the second leg of the third straight triple crown while the women are looking for their first Heps title since 1998.
