PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's indoor track team is ranked eighth in the latest Power Ranking Poll with a total of 251.43 points. Although Princeton has an 0-3 record, all three losses are to teams that are in the Top 11.
On January 8, Princeton fell to No. 11 and Heptagonal foe Navy by a close score of 69-67. The Tigers fell to Penn State and Connecticut last weekend. The Nittany Lions are ranked third in the country with a total of 261.25 points. UConn is ranked close behind Penn State with 261 points in fourth place.
Head coach Fred Samara and the Tigers boast one of the young teams in the league this season. However, the veteran leadership of captains John Mack (Sr., New Haven, Mich.), Mike Spence (Sr., East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and Scott Denbo (Jr., Nashville, Tenn.) have the Tigers pointed in the right direction for the team's third consecutive Triple Crown. By winning the Heptagonal championships in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track the last two seasons, the Tigers have set a new standard of excellence. Last season, they became the first team ever to win triple crowns in consecutive years.
The Tigers travel to Harvard this weekend for a triangular meet with the Crimson and Yale.
