Tigers Sweep Midshipmen In Season Opener

ANNAPOLIS, M.D. - With a strong push down the final 500 meters, No. 4 Princeton defeated the Navy heavyweight varsity crew eight Saturday morning on the Severn River. The Tigers covered the 2,000-meter course in 5:48.00, just less than eight seconds faster than the Midshipmen.
The first spring jitters were quickly settled as both teams challenged for an early lead. A clear separation between the two teams occurred around the 1300-meter mark. Princeton began to pull away from Navy by taking a boat-length lead before stretching to an open water lead by the finish line.
Princeton won all five races on the day, with the closest race coming in the third varsity event.
