Townsend Named Ivy League Player Of The Week In Field Hockey

PRINCETON, N.J. - Emily Townsend (Houston, Texas) has been named Ivy League Player of the Week for field hockey, and sophomore Ilvy Friebe (Bonn, Germany) was selected to the honor roll, for week ending September 10, 2000.
In the team's first and only game of the 2000 season, Townsend scored two goals and added one assist in a 4-2 victory over Boston University at Class of 1952 Stadium. Both goals came off of penalty corners from teammates Hilary Matson and Kellie Maul. In 1999, Townsend scored 18 points on seven goals and four assists.
Friebe scored one goal and added one assist in her 2000 season debut. Her goal stood as the game-winner for the Tigers who start off the season at 1-0. Last season, Friebe finished third on the team with 26 points on 11 goals (second on team) and four assists.
Princeton will face Drexel on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Class of 1952 Stadium and travel to Yale on Saturday to begin Ivy League action at 12:30.
