Miller Named Ivy League Rookie Of The Week In Field Hockey

PRINCETON, N.J. - Claire Miller (Fr., Attack, Scarsdale, N.Y.) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for her outstanding play on the Princeton University field hockey team. Senior tri-captain Hilary Matson (Attack, Marathon, N.Y.) was selected to the honor roll.
Last week, Princeton went 2-0 posting shut out victories over Drexel (6-0) and Yale (3-0). Miller led the Tigers against Drexel by scoring her first collegiate points on two goals. She followed up that performance by tallying her team's first goal of the game against Yale in the opening day of Ivy League play. Miller currently ranks second on the team in scoring with six points.
Matson, named to the honor roll, scored one goal and added one assist in each of the two games last week. She leads Princeton in scoring with a total of eight points on two goals and four assists. Matson is currently tied for fourth place all-time with 27 career assists. She shares that total with 1997 graduate Amy MacFarlane.
Princeton is 3-0 to start the season and is ranked No. 11 in the NFHCA coaches' poll. The team will travel to Columbia on Wednesday, Sept. 20 to play the Lions at 7 p.m. The Tigers return home to face-off against Dartmouth on Saturday at Class of 1952 Stadium in a 1 p.m. start.
