Field Hockey Wins Fourth Straight

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Hilary Matson (Marathon, N.Y.) scored one goal and added one assist in a 3-1 win over Columbia on Wednesday night in Ivy League play. Matson has registered a goal and an assist in each of the last three Princeton games and leads the team in scoring with 11 points (three goals, 5 assists).
Emily Townsend (Houston, Texas) scored the first Tiger goal of the night with 29:20 remaining in the first half off of a double assist from Matson and teammate Kellie Maul (Marlton, N.J.). Maul finished the night with two assists.
Columbia then tied the score at 1-1 as Florencia Batrilana scored the Lion's lone goal at the 12:08 mark.
Melanie Meerschwam (Amstelveen, Netherlands) netted what was the eventual game-winning goal just 4:47 into the second half on a penalty stroke to make the score 2-1, and Matson finished the job adding an insurance goal with 21:19 remaining in the game. Princeton (4-0, 2-0 Ivy) will face Dartmouth at the Class of 1952 Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
