Theresa Sherry Named IvyLeagueSprts.com Player of the Week

Princeton, N.J. - Sophomore Theresa Sherry (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the IvyLeagueSports.com Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 14. Princeton went 2-0 in the week, defeating the Tribe of William and Mary 2-1 and the Bears of Brown 4-1.
In a 4-1 win over Brown, Sherry netted the game-winner merely 24 seconds after the Bears tied the game in the second half. Five minutes later, she put the game out of reach with her fifth goal of the season. Earlier in the week, down 1-0 in the first half to William & Mary, Sherry evened the scored for the Tigers when she curved in a corner-kick from the right side. Princeton went on to win the game, 2-1 in overtime. This is her first player of the week honor this year.
Along with freshman Kristina Fontanez (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) who received an Ivy League Honor Roll distinction this week, Sherry leads the team with five goals scored this season. Fontanez leads the team with 11 points (5g, 1a).
Princeton was recently ranked 21st in the latest National Soccer Coaches of America Association national poll. Princeton returns to action when they host the Wildcats of Villanova on Wednesday, October 17 at 5:00 p.m. The Tigers will face Ivy League rival Harvard, when they travel to Boston on Saturday, October 20 at noon.
