Kroshus and Casey Named All-Ivy for Cross Country

Princeton, N.J. - Emily Kroshus (So., Calgary, Alberta) and Catherine Casey (Sr., Maplewood, N.J.) both received All-Ivy distinctions after placing in the top-ten of the Heptagonal Games Association Cross Country Championships. After placing fifth at the Heps, Kroshus was named first team, Casey who placed ninth in the individual standings was named to the second team. The race was held in Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y. The first seven Ivy finishers were named first-team and the next seven Ivy finishers received second team honors.
Kroshus crossed the finish line at 17:51.3. Casey ran the course in 17:58.0. and placed fifth in the individual standings. Last year Princeton finished in seventh place at the meet
Kroshus has been the top Princeton finisher in every meet this season. She led the Tigers to a first-place finish at the Central Connecticut Invitational on Sept. 22 with meet-winning time of 17:43.6.Kroshus led the Tigers to a 12th place finish in the purple race at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational. Kroshus finished 17th in the individual standings with a time of 21:53. Competing in the race were 229 athletes from 34 colleges and universities.
Casey has been the second Princeton finisher in every meet that she has competed in this year. At the 2001 H-Y-P meet Casey finished in fourth place with a time of 17:46.7. With that time, Casey broke into the all-time top-ten Princeton finishes on the Princeton Battlefield.
