PRINCETON, N.J. - Sophomore Cory Picketts (Marmora, N.J.) has been named the IvyLeagueSports.com field hockey Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11. This is the first player of the week selection of her career.
Picketts scored the game-winner with 5:07 remaining to give Princeton a 2-1 win over top-seed and defending national champion Old Dominion in the second round of the 2001 NCAA tournament. She also helped seal the Tigers' trip to the Final Four when she intercepted a Lady Monarch pass after a penalty corner and cleared the ball to the other end of the field as the second ticked off the clock. Pickets is a 2001 second-team All-Ivy and first-team Regional All-America selection
Princeton (17-2) will meet Michigan, a 2-1 winner over Michigan State, at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 at Dix Stadium on the campus of Kent State University. The winner of that game will met the winner of Maryland/Wake Forest at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18 to determine the national champion.
