Princeton Men Win IC4A Cross Country Championships

New York, N.Y. - Kevin Gallagher paced Princeton to the title as the men's cross country team captured a share of the IC4A championship on Saturday. The Tigers tied Colgate for first place with a team score of 94. Gallagher placed sixth overall in the 5-mile race with a time of 26:03.10. Dan Mackenzie placed 12th with a time of 26:14.10 and Jeff Dichiara was 16th (26:19.50) for the Tigers.
Princeton and Colgate each earned 94 points, out distancing themselves from third-place UMass by 26 points. This year 23 teams competed in meet. Last season the Tigers placed seventh.
The Princeton women placed fifth out of 14 teams at the ECAC Championships on the same course. The top finisher for the women was Pilar Marin in 20th place who ran the 5k race in a time of 18:41.50. Christina Roberto finished just seconds behind Marin in 21st place with a time of 18:43.90 and Joan Krautman finished in 28th place (18:51:90). Last season, Princeton captured the ECAC title.
