PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton track and field head coach Fred Samara has been named the male Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year by the United States Track Coaches Association. Samara, in his 24th year at Princeton, also won the award in 1982 and 1996.
"There are so many coaches that are eligible, over 80 in this region, so it is a great honor to be named by my fellow coaches," said Samara. "People recognized that Princeton hosted several meets this year and really did a lot for the sport. Hosting three meets was a major undertaking. Having the new Weaver Stadium has made Princeton the focal point for track and field in the East."
