Jamaica, N.Y. - Sophomore Kellie Cramm (Laguna Beach, Calif.) recorded 27 kills and 25 digs as Princeton opened its 2001 season with a 3-0 win over Vermont and a 3-0 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on the first day of the St. John's Classic.
The Tigers defeated the Catamounts in the season opener behind Cramm's 13 kills and 11 digs. Junior Michelle Buffum (San Jose, Calif.) added 11 digs while classmate Abby Studer (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) finished with a team-high 5 blocks. Senior captain Ana Yoerg (Bloomfield, Mich.) led Princeton with 21 assists.
Yoerg registered 35 assists as Princeton defeated Fairleigh Dickinson in its second game of the day. Cramm again had an outstanding match with 14 kills and 14 digs. Buffum added nine kills, six assists and 10 digs while sophomore Kerry Song (Coto de Caza, Calif.) chipped in with 13 digs in the victory.
The win moves Princeton to 2-0 on the season. The Tigers will face St. John's tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the final game of the tournament.
