Princeton Women's Track Narrowly Falls to Uconn, Defeats Rutgers

Princeton, NJ - In a very close tri meet, Princeton's women's indoor track and field team finished with 66 points, four behind champion UConn. Rutgers trailed in third with 53 points.
Princeton used victories in the 4 x 400 (3:55.20) and 4 x 800 (9:29.37) relays to stay on the Huskies' heels in the team scoring. The Tigers received individual wins from Lauren Simmons in the 500 (1:13.93), Natalie Deffenbaugh in the 800 (2:19.20), Catherine Casey in the 3000 (10:02.04), and Laura Shackelton in the 5000 (18:15.96). The only team points from field events were earned by Susan Coltman who won the long jump with a distance of 545 cm, Jenn Byrd who finished third (537), and Brooke Minor who tied for first in the high jump (1.7 meters).
