Despite being outshot, 22-6, and outcornered, 14-4, Boston University claimed a 2-0 shutout over the 15th ranked Princeton field hockey squad on Sunday afternoon at the University of Connecticut.
The Terriers scored two early goals and never looked back on their way to the win. The first goal came just four minutes into the game when Dalinda Banuelos centered a pass to Celeste Hubbard directly in front of Princeton goalkeeper Kelly Baril. Hubbard then flipped the ball past Baril.
BU doubled its lead at 16:35 when Whitney Peabody sent a pass to Kara Rossi, who turned and beat Baril to make the score 2-0.
Boston University goalkeeper Susan Harrington made 11 saves to earn her third shutout of the season.
The Tigers, 6-5, return to Ivy League action this week, hosting Brown on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., in a game played at the Class of 1952 Stadium. The Tigers have won two consecutive games against the Bears, including a 5-1 win last season in Providence.
