Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at NCAA Regionals

Davis, W. Va. - The men's cross country team placed third of 26 teams at the NCAA Mid Atlantic Regionals hosted by the West Virginia University at the Canaan Valley Golf Course. The top two teams receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships; the Tigers must wait to see if they receive an at-large bid in the upcoming days.
Austin Smith was the top Princeton finisher, crossing the 10k finish line in 31:05.4 good for a 13th place finish. Jon Bell finished in 19th place with a time of 31:20.3. Mike Baird finished 23rd (31:33.3), Jeff Dichiara placed 27th (31:37.3), Josh Ordway finished 30th (31:41.2) and Tristan Colangelo placed 39th (31:51.4)
Villanova, the favorite coming into the regional meet, captured the team title with 40 points and 2 and 3 finishes by Adrian Blincoe and Jonathan Fasulo. Georgetown, who had the top individual finsiher, Mike Smith, took second in the team standings with 45 points. Princeton finished third with 108 points.
Last season, Princeton finished third at the 2001 NCAA Regional meet, behind Villanova and Georgetown and did not receive an at-large bid.
