Women's Basketball Gets Clipped By Temple

Stanford, Calif. - Temple converted 22 Princeton turnovers into 30 fast-break points and downed the Tigers 70-40 in the consolation game of the Stanford Invitational on Saturday night at Maples Pavilion.
The Owls opened the game with 6-0 advantage off three quick steals, two by Khadija Bowens. The Tigers settled in and with Kelly Schaeffer's bucket at 9:41 the score was tied at 10-10. Temple answered with a couple more steals and a 12-0 run to open a double-digit lead it would not relinquish.
The Owls cruised to a 34-18 halftime lead behind 47 percent shooting and 20 points off 10 steals. Princeton was ice cold from three-point range, missing all eight three-point attempts in the first half.
Freshman Rebecca Brown was having a solid day for Princeton with eight first-half points. She finished the game with her first career double-double, notching 17 points and 11 rebounds. Brown was the only Tiger to attempt a foul shot and finished 3 of 7 from the charity stripe. Senior Maureen Lane finished with seven points and connected on Princeton's lone three-point basket while Karen Bolster added six points on 3 of 4 shooting.
Bowens led Temple with 16 points, six assists and five steals. Stacey Smalls and Cynthia Jordan scored 12 points apiece for the Owls as they improve to 4-1 on the year.
Princeton falls to 2-3 on the year and 7-14 all-time in tournament consolation games. Temple is now 3-0 against the Tigers with a 23-point margin of victory average against the Orange and Black.
The Tigers return to the East Coast for a three-game homestand beginning Wednesday, Dec. 4 when they host Centenary at 7 p.m.
