Princeton, N.J. - - Angela Gooldy recorded a hat trick and picked up an assist as the Tigers rolled over the Big Red of Cornell 6-0. With the win Princeton improves to 4-0-0, 2-0-0 ECAC and Cornell slips to 0-2-0, 0-2-0 ECAC.
Gooldy opened the scoring for the Tigers in the first period at 7:53 when she beat Cornell's Liz Connelly on a pass from Becky Stewart. The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the second period when Goodly scored at 12:45. Susan Hobson and Lisa Rasmussen were credited with the assists. Annamarie Holmes got a four-goalie third period started when she scored at 3:45. Gooldy and Stewart earned the assists. Two power-play goals by Gooldy and Katherine Maglione with in 1:30 of each other put the Tigers up 5-0. Jackson netted a final goal off a pass from April Brown as the Tigers won 6-0.
"The difference this season," said head coach Jeff Kampersal, "is our depth. Every night someone has stepped up when we needed them to, and each time it's been someone new. The team's worked hard in the weight room and it's showing in our third periods."
Princeton outscored their opponents this weekend 10-1 and 17-1 on the season. "This weekend was an important one for us," adds Kampersal. "It's good to get League points early at home in the season."
The Tigers converted 3-for-7 of their power-plays holding Cornell to 0-for-6. Princeton's Megan Van Beusekom recorded 18 saves for the Tigers. Cornell's Connelly had 34 in the loss.
Princeton returns to action on November 16 when they travel to New Hampshire. The Tigers return home on November 30 for a 3:00 p.m. match against Maine
