Colorado Col.
Women's Soccer Team Gets A Tie - And A Win

Princeton's women's soccer team came away with an entertaining tie and a huge win in one day.
Princeton and Colorado College battled to a 1-1 tie, largely because of an amazing 21-save performance by CC goalkeeper Meghann Loseke, in the regular-season finale for two teams nicknamed "Tigers." Princeton's Tigers finished the regular season 13-2-1, while CC's Tigers ended 8-7-2.
Princeton's win came when Penn defeated Dartmouth 2-1 earlier in the day. The Big Green loss gave the Tigers the outright Ivy League championship for the first time in program history. Princeton had already clinched at least a share for the championship for the third straight year, and a Dartmouth win over Penn would have left the teams as co-champions.
The Dartmouth loss did not affect the Ivy's NCAA tournament bid, which Princeton had already clinched by virtue of a 4-1 win over the Big Green earlier in the season. Princeton will learn its NCAA tournament draw Monday. The Tigers finished 6-1-0 in the league. "We're excited to win the outright championship," said Princeton coach Julie Shackford. "We were very fortunate when Dartmouth lost. We'll take a 13-2-1 regular season. That's not too shabby."
Princeton outshot Colorado College, a Division I independent, 41-4, but Loseke allowed only a penalty kick by Heather Deerin to get past her. CC scored first in the 66th minute when Ashley Hooverson redirected a feed from Stephanie Kernan from eight yards out, but Deerin picked up the tying goal 2:59 later after a Loseke save led directly to a handball in the box.
"We thought we had nothing to lose and we should just come out and play hard," said Loseke, the school's single-season saves record-holder who had also stopped 21 in a shutout of Pepperdine earlier this season. "We tried to play a very defensive game. This was a great way for a young team to end a season. We're having a great trip here. We're hoping we get to go to New York before we leave."
Loseke stopped a breakaway by Princeton's Emily Behncke with four minutes remaining in regulation and made a pair of back-to-back saves on Esmeralda Negron in overtime to preserve the tie.
"Their goalkeeper was extraordinary," Shackford said. "To her credit, we did everything right. It was a great game by her."
