Princeton, N.J. - Gretchen Anderson scored the lone goal as the Tigers defeated the Buckeyes of Ohio State 1-0 in women's hockey action. With the non-conference win Princeton improves to 8-3-2 on the season. The Buckeyes slip to 5-10-2.
Both team skated to a scoreless first period with the Ohio State outshooting the Tigers 6-4. The Tigers were able to kill of one Buckeye power-play in the opening period.
Anderson scored for Princeton with 4:21 remaining in the second period. Anderson redirected a pass from Andrea Kilbourne right in front of the left side of the goal. The shot deflected off a Buckeye skate a beat Ohio State's Natalie Lamme. The Tigers were whistled for three penalties in the second period; Ohio State received two.
Megan Van Beusekom recorded eight of her 21 saves in the third period to keep the Buckeyes off the scoreboard and earn her third shutout of the season. Lamme finished the night with 12 saves.
With their helmets and sticks on the bench, the Tigers took to the ice at the conclusion of tonight's game as they joined fans and family for a "Skate with the Tigers" evening.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. when the host the Buckeyes for a rematch of tonight's contest
