Ohio State Tops Women's Hockey 4-0

Princeton N.J. - Emma Laaksonen tallied two goals for the Buckeyes as Ohio State shutout the Tigers 4-0. It was the first time this season the Tigers have been kept off the scoreboard. Princeton slips to 8-4-2 on the season. Ohio State improves to 6-10-2.
The teams played to a scoreless first period; each recording seven shots on goal. Jeni Creary struck first for the Buckeyes at 00:56 ticked off the second period clock. Gretchen Anderson was call for tripping at 2:04 and put Ohio State on the power-play. Laaksonen scored her first goal of the evening 20 seconds later to put the Buckeyes 2-0. Jana Harrigan added one more in the second period as Ohio State opened a 3-0 lead.
Laaksonen capped the evening off at 7:41 in the third with her second goal of the evening. Meagan Mulvaney tallied two assists in the match. Sarah Ahlquist played two periods for the Tigers and recorded 17 on the night. Roxanne Gaudiel came into the game for the Tigers in third and had seven saves. April Stojak had 20 saves for Ohio State.
The Tigers will return to action on January 4 when they travel to Boston College. The Tigers will have a two week break and will return to practice for a week before returning to competition.
"We have high expectations for the season and so far we've performed fairly well," said head coach Jeff Kampersal. "We have to work on putting a complete game together and a whole weekend together. We've come out big on Fridays but have slacked on Saturday's."
Andrea Kilbourne and Angela Gooldy have been invited to the U.S. Hockey Camp to try out for the U.S. team that will compete at the World Championships in April.
"For the most part we've got the positions worked out," adds Kampersal. "Now it's about fine tuning the combinations."
