Box Score
Princeton, N.J. - Senior Allison Cahill scored 28 points to lead the Tigers past Centenary in a rout, 97-69 on Wednesday night at Jadwin Gym. Cahill was one of four Princeton players to reach double figures as the Tigers match a program record for most points in a game and improve to 3-3 on the year.
Princeton opened a tight game early with an 11-0 run to push out to a 16-5 lead. The Tigers went inside, scoring 16 first-half points in the paint. Freshman Rebecca Brown notched 15 first-half points and pulled down five rebounds to help the Tigers establish a 52-28 halftime lead.
The second half was more contested with the Tigers outscoring the Ladies 45-41. Centenary's leading scorer this season, Alexis Pettway, fouled out midway through the second period and finished with 10 points. Brown scored 21 for Princeton, junior Kelly Schaeffer chipped in with 11 and senior Maureen Lane added 10. Centenary was led in scoring by Lindsey Way, who scored 19 points and dished out three assists. Princeton's leading scorer, Cahill, ended the game 10-of-14 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point territory and 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
The Tigers shot 46 percent from the field and scored 97 points for the third time in program history. Princeton scored 97 against Long Island in 1986 and again scored 97 against Brown in 1988. In two home games this season, the Tigers are averaging 94.5 points and have outscored their opponents by a total of 46 points.
"I thought we did a great job with our post game; I thought our shot selection was good. It was a great all around game," says Princeton coach Richard Barron. "We needed a game like this to get our confidence back."
Princeton is now 3-3 and drops the Ladies to 1-4. The Tigers are at home this Saturday, Dec. 7 when they take on Sacred Heart. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at Jadwin Gym.
