St. Lawrence Tops Women's Ice Hockey 5-1

Canton, N.Y. - Five Saints scored one goal each as St. Lawrence used a four-goal second period to defeat Princeton 5-1 in ECAC action. With the loss, the Tigers split a pair of weekend games with St. Lawrence and slip to 7-3-2, 3-1-0 ECAC. St. Lawrence moves to 8-4-2, 4-2-0 ECAC. On Friday December 6, the Tigers defeated the Saints 3-1.
Nikola Holmes received a two-minute minor for hitting from behind at 8:18 in the first period. Chera Marshall took a pass from Shannon Smith as St. Lawrence struck first, scoring on the power play at 9:13.
Lisa Rasmussen scored her second goal of the year to even the score at 1-1 with 4:42 remaining in the first period. Becky Stewart and Nikola Holmes were credited with the assists.
St, Lawrence went on the attack in the second period scoring four goals, three within the first 10 minutes. Kelly Sage scored at 3:09 to put the Saints up 2-1. Gina Kingsbury and Smith scored a goal each midway through the period and Ricki-Lee Doyle scored with less than 30 seconds remaining in the period to put St. Lawrence ahead 5-1
Megan Van Beusekom recorded 13 saves for the Tigers in the first two periods. Sarah Ahlquist came into the game in the third period and recorded eight saves; Rachel Barrie of St. Lawrence tallied 26 saves in the win.
Princeton out-shot the St. Lawrence 27-26.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, December 13 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Ohio State
