Women's Open Crew Begin Season With Brown And Michigan State

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's open crew team commenced the 2002 season with Brown and Michigan State at Lake Carnegie on Saturday morning. The Tiger varsity boats place second while the novice boats pick up wins in the opener.
The first race saw the Princeton second novice team defeat Brown with the Tigers crossing the finish line in 7:12.28, almost 12 full seconds ahead of Brown. The Varsity Fours followed with Michigan State taking first (7:38.04) and Princeton edging out Brown for second with a time of 7:41.02 compared to the Bears 7:41.23.
The First Novice brought another Princeton win over Brown as the Tigers rowed to a time of 6:54.3, ahead of Brown's 6:54.73, but the Varsity Eights saw Princeton earn two more second-place finishes with Brown winning both races and Michigan State finishing third.
The women's open crew team will be back in action when it hosts Columbia and Rutgers next Saturday at Lake Carnegie.
