Field Hockey Travels to Penn Looking for Fourth Straight Unbeaten Ivy Season

Less than 24 hours before the Princeton football team looks to put an end to the Ivy League dominance of unbeaten Penn, the Tiger field hockey team hopes to complete another dominant league season of its own when it faces the Quakers in the regular-season finale at Penn's Franklin Field (7 p.m.).
Although Princeton (11-5, 6-0 Ivy) clinched the Ivy League's automatic NCAA tournament berth nearly two weeks ago, the Tigers still have a lot to play for against archrival Penn (10-6, 3-3 Ivy). A win would give the Tigers a fourth consecutive unbeaten league season and extend the team's winning streak in league games to 31. Princeton's last loss in Ivy play came at Brown in Oct. 1999.
No. 11 Princeton will also be looking to rebound from its first two-game losing streak of the season as its heads into postseason play. The Tigers fell to William & Mary and Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va., last weekend after winning a season-high five consecutive games before that.
Penn will be looking to break a nine-game losing streak to Princeton that dates back to the 1994 season. The Tigers have outscored the Quakers 39-5 in those nine victories.
Selections for the 2003 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships will be announced via webcast on Tues., Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. EST. Click on www.ncaasports.com to access the Internet selection show. First-and second-round games will be held at four campus sites on Nov. 15 and 16, while the semifinals and championship games take place Nov. 21 and 23 at Garber Field in Amherst, Mass.
