Watt, Pearce Lead Women's Hockey to 4-1 Win at Findlay

Findlay, Ohio - Freshmen Laura Watt and Kim Pearce each posted a goal and an assist to help lead the Princeton women's hockey team to a 4-1 win at Findlay Saturday afternoon. The Tigers scored three times in the first period to open up a 3-0 lead as they claimed their eighth win of the 2003-04 season.
Pearce opened the scoring a mere 1:37 into the game when she posted her third goal of the season. Her goal was assisted by sophomore Sarah Butsch and Watt. The line also accounted for Princeton's third goal of the game, which was scored by Watt at 12:17 of the period. Sophomore defenseman Chrissie Norwich and Pearce assisted the goal. Princeton's game-winner came junst under five minutes onto the game, when sophomore Heather Jackson beat Findlay goaltender Jessica Moffett. Senior defenseman Angela Gooldy posted an assist on Jackson's fifth goal of the season.
The two teams played a scoreless second period and the score remained 3-0 until just over five minutes left in play. Findlay made the score 3-1 at the 14:46 mark when HeidiTallqvist scored on the power play. However, Princeton reassumed the three-goal margin when senior Gretchen Anderson scored an unassisted goal into the empty net. It was her team-leading 16th goal of the season.
Senior goaltender Megan Van Beusekom made 29 saves in the win, her sixth of the season. Moffat stopped 24 Tigers shots in the loss.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Tigers who now stand 8-5-0 on the season. Princeton returns to action tomorrow afternoon at Findlay.
