Baseball Drops Decision to NC State

Zebulon, N.C. - The Princeton baseball team dropped its second straight game Sunday afternoon against North Carolina State by a score of 8-2. Princeton was scheduled to play twice Sunday, but the early game against UNC-Wilmington was postponed due to rain and will not be made up.
The Wolfpack jumped ahead with a run in the third inning but Princeton responded to tie the game in the top of the fourth inning. Jon Miller led off the inning with a double to right field. After Ryan Eldridge struck out, Tim Lahey singled to right to score Miller. NC State added two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the fifth to move out to a 6-1 lead. The Wolfpack added two more in the eighth to reach eight runs.
Princeton got one run back in the top of the ninth. With one out in the inning, Eldridge singled to center field. Paul Ackermann came to bat as a pinch hitter and drove a double to center that scored Eldridge from first.
Tiger freshman Erik Stiller pitched four innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and was credited with the loss. Brian Kappel and Matt Sullivan each added two innings of relief work for the Tigers.
Princeton continues its spring break trip tomorrow night at Campbell at 7 p.m.
