KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Melissa Finley went 2 for 2 with two runs, including her second home run of the day, in Princeton's 11-5 loss to the University of Tennessee.
Princeton got on the board early in the second game when Lindsay Motal snapped into left field for a single. Kristin Del Calvo advanced her to second with a single down the right field line before Melissa Finley's single to third loaded the bases. Cristina Cobb-Adams reached second on an error by the Lady Vols' right fielder, scoring Del Calvo and Motal.
The Lady Vols fought back to score four runs in their first six at-bats, including a homer by catcher Lauren Mattox - her fourth of the season.
After a scoreless second inning for both teams, Tennessee scored six runs in the third and took a commanding 10-2 lead. Three Lady Vols scored on Tigers' errors, while the others scored on a walk, a wild pitch, and after a batter was hit by the pitch.
Princeton responded in the fourth when Erin Valoscik and Ty Ries hit back-to-back doubles, and in the fifth when Finley notched her second homerun of the day. Tennessee led 11-4 going into the seventh.
The Tigers held the Lady Vols and Cobb-Adams smacked a double to the centerfield fence that scored Finley before the game ended, 11-5.
