Princeton's women's soccer class of 2007 was recently ranked as the 19th best recruiting class in Division I by SoccerBuzz, the on-line collegiate women's soccer magazine.
Princeton's class also topped the Ivy League and was ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Julie Shackford's incoming class features four players: defender Christina Costantino of Burke, Va.; midfielder/forward Meghan Farrell of Blue Bell, Pa.; midfielder/forward Amanda Ferranti of Meville, N.Y.; and midfielder Diana Matheson of Oakville, Ont.
Costantino played at Lake Braddock High School, the same school as Shackford. Costantino was a two-time all-area and all-district selection who led her team to the Virginia Class AAA championship her senior year.
Farrell is from Wissihickon High School outside of Philadelphia. Farrell, whose father Patrick is the head men's soccer coach at La Salle, was a high school All-America and an all-state selection.
Ferranti lettered four times in soccer and twice in lacrosse at Walt Whitman High School. She was an all-state, all-county and all-league soccer player.
Matheson has already competed internationally as a member of the Canadian national team, scoring a goal last spring against Mexico. She is a four-time member of the all-provincial team.
Princeton went 13-3-1 a year ago and won the outright Ivy League championship while advancing to its fourth-straight NCAA tournament. The Tigers, who return seven starters, open the 2003 season Sept. 6 at American.
