Sacramento, Calif. - Emily Behncke's second goal of the night snapped a tie game and led 25th-ranked Princeton to a 3-1 win over Sacramento State Friday night.
Behncke's goal came with nine minutes remaining and three minutes after Sacramento State had tied the game with its only score of the night.
The victory kept Princeton undefeated at 4-0 on the young season. The Tigers play at 10th-ranked California to complete their California trip Sunday afternoon.
Behncke, the 2002 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, started the scoring two minutes into the game, when she moved through the Hornet defense and put the ball in on the left side.
Sacramento State tied the game 76 minutes later when Jennifer Iha scored her first collegiate goal. Behncke then broke the tie when she took a feed from Sylvia Morelli and converted, giving Morelli, a native of nearby San Francisco, her first collegiate point.
The Tigers clinched the game with three minutes left Esmeralda Negron scored to make it 3-1. Negron now has one goal in each of the first four games.
Princeton outshot Sacramento State 24-9.
