PRINCETON - Lauren Grumet led all players with 18 kills while the Princeton defense recorded 75 digs in a 3-0 victory over Dartmouth. With the win, the women's volleyball team improves to 12-4 overall, 3-1 in Ivy play, and sets up a first-place showdown with Harvard on Saturday.
Princeton, which improved to 3-0 at Dillon Gym this season, got a balanced effort from its squad. Ten players got in the match for the Tigers, and nine of them recorded at least one kill or dig. The Tigers took the first two games comfortably, 30-25 and 30-24. Princeton raced out to a 20-12 lead in the third game before Dartmouth rallied to make it a match, but a kill by Grumet sealed the match for the Tigers.
Lauren Loban had 13 kills for Princeton while Alex Brown had nine kills and a .353 attack percentage. Jenny Senske paced the offense with 43 assists, while Jenny McReynolds led all players with 27 digs.
Sandy Barbut had a double-double for Dartmouth with 12 kills and 15 digs, while Sarah Nadler had 10 kills and 16 digs.
Princeton plays first-place Harvard Saturday at 4 p.m. The Tigers swept the Crimson last season, but it was Harvard who stood alone in first place after the first two league weekends.
The win was No. 496 for head coach Glenn Nelson, who is four wins away from becoming the third coach in Princeton history with 500 wins. The other two are softball coach Cindy Cohen and men's basketball coach Pete Carril.
