Senior Caitlin Tormey won the mile run and classmate Brooke Minor took the high jump event as the Princeton women's track team participated in the New Year Invitational Sunday at Jadwin Gym.
The meet was the first for Princeton at the new Jadwin indoor track, which was installed this past summer. The track features an entirely new surface as well as a separate stretch for sprint events in the middle of the track.
Tormey finished the eight laps around the track for the mile in 5:13.26, three seconds better than Rachel McGee of Manhattan. Minor cleared 1.65 meters (5-5) in the high jump to edge Manhattan's Caitlyn Kjolhede and Rutgers Kerry Ann Mitchell in that event.
Princeton also had second-place finishes from senior Chanel Lattimer in the 300 meters (40.83), senior Christi Niehans in the pole vault (10-11 3/4), junior Jennifer Byrd in the long jump (18-3 1/4) and freshman Marta Pardo in the triple jump (36-1 1/2).
