The Princeton men's indoor track team participated in its final meet before next week's Ivy League Heptagonals Saturday afternoon, winning nine events at the Princeton Invitational held at The Lawrenceville School.
Early in the day at Jadwin Gym, the Tigers took the top two spots in both the 35-lb. weight throw (Josh McCaughey, Mark Smith) and the shot put (Rocky Craley, Paul Lyons). McCaughey's weight throw of 19.60 meters was nearly two meters better than the second-place throw.
Action shifted to the track at Lawrenceville in the evening, with Princeton taking seven events there.
In the field events, Mike Weishuhn won the high jump with a leap of 1.99 meters, while Nick Crumpton triple-jumped 14.22 meters to win that event in a close battle with Patrick Horst of Columbia.
On the track, Dan Saltzman ran a 22.30 to win the 200 meters, Aaron Reed took the 800-meter run in 1:54.98, John Basler won the 1,000 in 2:29.08, Paul Rosa ran 4:16.81 to win the mile and Jeff Dichiara won the 3,000 meters in 8:38.81.
The 2004 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track Championships take place Sat. and Sun., Feb. 28 and 29, at Cornell University.
