Clark Drops 28 Points In Penn's 73-62 Win At Princeton

Four Tigers scored in double digits and Lauren Nestor had a career-high 17 rebounds in a 73-62 loss to Penn at Jadwin Gym. The game was decided on the foul line, where Princeton shot just 6 for 21 (29%) and Penn's Jewel Clark scored 10 of her game-high 28 points.
Princeton fell to 6-19 overall and 3-9 in the Ivy League while Penn continued its trek to the conference title with a 16-9 overall mark and a 10-2 Ivy record.
The Tigers were in the game early and led 13-12 at 14:25 before Penn opened its lead. The Quakers sank five three-pointers while Princeton missed 8 of 9 free throws, had 12 turnovers and were behind 40-31 at the break.
Clark had 11 first-half points and Cat Makarewich added two threes for the Quakers while Katy O'Brien had eight points for Princeton. Nestor already had 10 rebounds, including nine on the defensive boards. Princeton cut Penn's lead to six points off an Ali Smith three-pointer to open the second half but the Quakers then went on a 7-0 run for a 49-36 lead at 16:58. Penn had its biggest lead (18 points) in the final minute but the Tigers scored the last seven points of the game.
Katy Digovich led Princeton with 13 points and Maureen McCracken, Becky Brown and O'Brien added 12, 11 and 10 points. Nestor scored six points to go along with her game- and career-high 17 boards. O'Brien added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Both teams shot poorly on the night. The Tigers went 40% from the floor, 22% behind the arc and 29% from the foul line while the Quakers shot 38% from the field, 28% for their threes and 55% from the foul line. Princeton out-rebounded Penn 52-44.
The Tigers return to Jadwin for the final two games of the season this Friday, March 5 against Harvard and Saturday, March 6 against Dartmouth. Both games begin at 7 p.m. Princeton will honor seniors McCracken and Mary Cate Opila before tip-off on Saturday.
