Shackford Named National Coach Of The Year By SoccerBuzz

Julie Shackford, who led Princeton's women's soccer team to the Ivy League's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Final Four, was named the Division I Coach of the Year by SoccerBuzz magazine. Shackford was chosen out of the 306 Division I coaches for the top honor by SoccerBuzz, a magazine dedicated to college women's soccer.

Shackford is also one of six finalists for the national Coach of the Year award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, who will announce its award next week.

Shackford guided Princeton to a 19-3 record, a perfect 7-0-0 Ivy League record and four straight NCAA tournament wins to reach the Final Four. She was earlier named Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year by both the NSCAA and SoccerBuzz.

Esmeralda Negron and Diana Matheson, both first-team All-Americas by the NSCAA, were named second-team All-Americas by SoccerBuzz. Both were first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region selections by SoccerBuzz, while Matheson was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Freshman of the Year and was runner-up for the national honor from SoccerBuzz.

Negron and Matheson were joined on the all-region team by second-team choice Romy Trigg-Smith and third-team choice Emily Behncke.
