Fair Cambridge
Princeton travels to Harvard this weekend to return to the Ivy League schedule for the first time in two weeks after last Saturday's home contest against Columbia was washed out due to heavy rain.
It's a Princeton-Harvard fest
The women's soccer team is just one of four Princeton squads competing in Cambridge on Saturday as the football team, men's soccer team and field hockey team all face Harvard.
Seeing red... well, Crimson
Harvard holds a 18-6-1 lead in the series, enjoying winning streaks of eight games (1993-2000) and six games (1986-91). In recent years, however, Princeton is unbeaten in three of the last four matches with two wins, a tie and a loss from 2001-04.
Last time around
Emily Behncke had three points in last year's 2-1 win over Harvard at Lourie-Love Field. Harvard took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute and held it until the last minute of regulation when Behncke scored with 41 seconds left on the clock to preserve the chance of extending what was a seven-game win streak. A minute and a half from finishing as a tie, Behncke found Esmeralda Negron for the game-winner. Emily Vogelzang made four saves in over 108 minutes played, surrendering just one goal while Princeton outshot Harvard 25-10.
Home field advantage?
Despite the overall series advantage for Harvard, the Crimson have not defeated Princeton in Cambridge since 1999, preceding a tie in 2001 and a Tiger victory two years ago.
Fire away!
Wednesday's win over Rider only grew the shot advantage on the season for Princeton over its opponents. The Tigers have outshot their opponents 176-118 this season, including an 85-46 advantage in the first half. Senior Emily Behncke, sophomore Diana Matheson and senior Maura Gallagher have accounted for 97 of those 176 shots, or 55%.
The golden shoe
In three of Princeton's four victories, against Loyola Marymount, La Salle and Dartmouth, sophomore Diana Matheson has scored the game-winning goal. Emily Behncke ended Matheson's monopoly in that category, scoring the first goal against Rider on Wednesday.
Good things come in threes
Tiger games in 2005 have typically been defensive struggles. Only three times in the 12 games this season has Princeton or its opponent reached the three-goal mark. Princeton is 2-0 when reaching that total as it did when it beat La Salle and Rider, 4-0 each time. Miami (Fla.), however, topped Princeton 3-0 in the season's second game.
Minding the net
Senior Emily Vogelzang returned to the net on Wednesday for her first 90-minute performance since Sept. 8 when Arizona edged Princeton, 2-1. Three goalkeepers have seen time this year for the Orange and Black, including senior Madeline Jackson and sophomore Maren Dale.
Double-time
Princeton's next home game is Oct. 29 against Cornell at Lourie-Love Field. The men's team also hosts the Big Red as part of a doubleheader with kickoff at 4 p.m. and the women's game following at 7 p.m.
An accomplished foot
Emily Behncke continues the final year of her successful Princeton career. She has seven goals and two assists this season, giving her 76 career points, third all-time (Esmeralda Negron 112, Linda DeBoer 94) and 32 goals, also third all-time (Negron 47, DeBoer 41).
Let's have some Maura that
Senior Maura Gallagher scored two goals in the victory over Rider on Wednesday, giving her a multi-goal game for the third time in her career. She had two-goal games last season against American and in 2002 against Cornell.

What's goin' on?
As the Ivy League season crosses its middle point with every team in the league no more than two-and-a-half games behind any other team, the "scoreboard watching" can begin. Princeton's game at Harvard is the first of four Ivy contests over the weekend, with the Penn-Yale game kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, Brown plays Cornell and Columbia faces Dartmouth, both at noon.
