PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior forward Emily Behncke earned the Ivy League Women's Soccer Player of the Week honor for scoring three goals in two games including two game-winning goals as the Tigers went 2-0 last week.
Behncke scored Princeton's first goal at Harvard in the 39th minute on Saturday before the Crimson tied the game in the second half. In overtime number two, 14 seconds from the game finishing in a 1-1 deadlock, Behncke helped the Orange and Black even its conference record at 2-2.
Last Wednesday, Behncke scored the first of four Princeton goals against Rider on the way to a 4-0 win. After those two victories, Princeton has won four of its last six games and has moved to within a game of the .500 mark overall at 5-6-2.
It is the second honor of the year for a Tiger player after Diana Matheson was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 3.
The Tigers return to conference play on Saturday against Cornell at 7 p.m. at Lourie-Love Field. With six points and three league games left to play, Princeton stands in a tie for third with Columbia, three points behind Dartmouth and four back of Yale.
