ITHACA, N.Y. - The Princeton women's squash team has high aspirations for the 2005-06 season, and a 9-0 victory in the season opener at Cornell did nothing to hurt those feelings. The Tigers got seven 3-0 wins en route to the comfortable win over the host Big Red.
"Overall, we played a good opener," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "Margaret Kent played a strong and decisive match, and she was dominant with powerful drives. Carly Grabowski was also in control and dominant in her match. I thought the freshmen opened with solid results. Maggie and Aly were a little nervous at first, but they settled into it."
The top of the lineup featured some familiar names to the women's team. Juniors Claire Rein-Westin and Marilla Hiltz did on Sunday what they had done most of last season - provide wins at the top two spots. The bottom two spots were held by much newer faces. Freshman Maggie O'Toole won at No. 8, and classmate Ali Brady picked up a win at No. 9.
