Princeton Track and Field Wins Seven Events in First Competition of 2005-06 Indoor Season

PRINCETON, N.J.--The Princeton men's track and field team won three events and the women earned four victories as the two Tiger squads opened their respective indoor seasons on Saturday at Jadwin Gym for the New Year Invitational.
Raymond Lenihan won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.13 seconds, ahead of Rider's Randy Nixon, who finished in 8.40 seconds. Lenihan also won the preliminary race in a faster time of 8.05 seconds. The other two men's wins went to distance racers, as Kurt Kuehne won the 1000 meters in 2:30.18, ahead of Penn's John Guzman (2:30.39). The Tigers also took the 3000 race, with James O'Toole winning in 8:31.31, ahead of Ambar Patel of Rutgers (8:39.18).
On the women's side, Laura Landry won the 500 meters in 1:17.21, ahead of Toria Williams of Monmouth, who finished in 1:17.85. Princeton also claimed the 1000 meters with Heather Iatauro winning in 2:15.61, ahead of Dominique Sanon of Rutgers, who finished in 2:58.03. The 4x800 relay was victorious, finishing in 9:37.21, 15 seconds ahead of Manhattan's foursome. In the women's field events, Jessica Kloss won the pole vault with a leap of 11-6.
The women's team takes to the track again on Jan. 14 for the Princeton open, while the men visit Navy on Jan. 8 before hosting the Princeton Relays on Jan. 15.
