The Princeton men's track team earned victories in eight of 11 running events on the day, including all five of the sprint events, on the way to a 100.5-80.5 victory over the Naval Academy at Jadwin Gym Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers earned the five points for a race win from junior Rich Stewart in the 500 meters, junior Brian Shields in the 400 meters, junior Dan Saltzman in the 200 meters and freshman Shafiq Kashmiri in the 60-meter dash. Sophomore Bill Foran won the 60 meters in 7:13 as a non-scoring runner in the meet.
Senior Ray Lenihan won for Princeton in the 60-meter hurdles, outdistancing Navy's Marcus Scarborough in a time of 8.16 seconds.
Stewart had the biggest victory for Princeton in the sprints, winning by nearly a second over Navy's Cameron Lindsay in the 500 meters.
The Tigers also earned eight of the 11 available points in the long jump, with both winner and freshman Matt Brock and senior Derek Davis jumping more than 23 feet. Another freshman, Alex Pessala, won the weight throw with an impressive toss of nearly 59 feet, and senior Ken Stringer finished second in the event.
Tiger cross country stars David Nightingale and Frank Macreery finished 1-2 in the 3,000 meters to help Princeton to victory Sunday, while James O'Toole's time of 4:12.94 was good for a race victory in the mile.
