PRINCETON - The Princeton women's squash team needed one more victory to upset No. 2 Trinity on Saturday, but it left its home court falling just short in a 5-4 loss. The Tigers could get another shot at Trinity next weekend when the best women's teams in the country come to Jadwin Gym for the Howe Cup championships.
"I thought the team competed well today," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "Everyone didn't play their best game but they fought hard and tried to make changes that would effect their match positively. All in all I am very proud of this team and the leadership from the seniors and captains, I am looking forward to the Howe Cup. One more chance at the top teams might be all we need!"
Trinity swept the top five matches, although both Genevieve Lessard (No. 3) and Lena Neufeld (No. 4) took one game in defeat. Princeton swept the final four matches, including a tight victory for freshman Carly Grabowski, who stayed perfect in the dual meet season. "I was pleased to see Carly win her last dual match and remain undefeated," Ramsay said. "She has improved so much through hard work and determination. It is nice to see her rewarded for all her efforts"
