PRINCETON - The Princeton Tigers got five 3-0 wins and another pair of 3-1 victories Saturday to defeat the Dartmouth Big Green 7-2. The Tigers are now 9-1 overall and will now face a talented Harvard squad Sunday at noon.
"The team played well today," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "We had some specific areas we wanted to work on and they all did a good job. Claire Rein-Weston played well after a few days off due to a injury but look pretty sharp. It was a good warm up for tomorrow's match against Harvard."
Franny McKay struggled due to illness and lost9-7 in a tough fifthgame. She is expected to be ready for Sunday, but if not, she will rely on a bevy of talented younger teammates to help carry the team. One of those teammates is freshman Margaret Kent. "She was sharp and dominated her opponent," Ramsay said. "I think she is playing better and better with each match."
"It went well today," Kent said. "I felt I controlled the tee by hitting hard and kept her moving under pressure."
Princeton defeated Harvard twice last season by 5-4 scores, including once in the Howe Cup tournament.
